the beyondbirth milestones study

Are you a parent of an infant aged 1 to 13 months old?

If you would like to complete this study, please click here.

The first year of life is a fascinating learning curve for infants and parents alike. The importance of an infant’s developmental milestones during the first year is generally well understood by parents and is supported by routine health checks. However, parents are less likely to be aware of activities and behaviours they can engage in with their child to help promote these important developments. Psychoeducation has been found to significantly increase a parent’s knowledge, confidence and satisfaction in parenting-related activities.

The ‘Beyondbirth’ Milestones Study aims to investigate the effectiveness of a bank of researcher-developed m-health messages designed to provide new parents with infant age-specific developmental education, and to promote parent-infant interactions. The m-health messages developed and piloted in the current study are an integral component of the researcher-proposed ‘Beyondbirth’ parenting app – an evidence-based psychoeducation platform for new parents. The messages are designed to be distributed within the app as push notifications (i.e., short messages delivered to your mobile phone).

If you choose to participate in this study, you will be asked to complete a 45-minute survey to evaluate m-health messages about infant developmental milestones in the infant’s first year. On completion, you will be invited to enter a draw to win a $50 e-gift card redeemable at a number of major retailers.
