 Family interactions & Neurodevelopmental Lab

School of Psychology, University of Newcastle, Australia
The aim of our lab is to study, promote and facilitate healthy development and wellbeing among children, young people and their parents. Our research examines multiple aspects of psychological health including social-emotional development, cognitive functioning and mental health. We incorporate a number of methods including large-scale surveys, laboratory-based experimental studies in cross-sectional and longitudinal designs. We adopt multifaceted approaches to measurement including best practice child assessment techniques, such as direct observation, parent and self-reports of behaviour, computer-based experiments, eye-tracking paradigms and actigraphy. Our lab is located in the Psychology building and have lab spaces, suitable for children and families including space for eyetracking, play, neuropsychological and cognitive assessments.
