Would you like a trial run of being a new parent?
The purpose of this research was to investigate the effects of game-based learning using an interactive m-health game. M-health is the use of mobile phones in health-based communication and games. The ‘Choose Your Own Parenting Experience’ is a fun, interactive, game-based experience modelled on the ‘Choose Your Own Adventure’ format designed to be played on your mobile phone. It was designed to equip parents with parenting tips and knowledge to help them on their parenting journey. The interactive game was directly impacted by the choices the user made in each scenario, giving the user a 'trial run' at being a parent. The user was also able to play the game multiple times, as it was a 'choose your own adventure format', each time you play would conclude with a different result.
Parents of infants aged one to 13 months were invited to participate in the study, which included several surveys and evaluating a new online interactive m-health game. We would like to thank everyone who participated and made this study possible.
Tune in to ABC radio (Central Coast) to listen to Miranda talking about the study (7 Aug 2018) or read a local news article in the Star.
This project has been undertaken by Dr Linda Campbell, Ms Jaime Wroe, and Miranda Cashin.
